Alright, so what does my portfolio say about me? What did I choose to show about myself? To be honest I just wanted to show different aspects of myself. I didn’t really focus on anything in particular. For example, I had a whole college essay I wrote about my volunteering experience that I added to show that I’m somebody who likes volunteering and helping others, and it also showcases my writing skills and academics. But I also added some pictures I took on a trip in Japan that I really liked to showcase my artistic abilities. Photography has been one of my hobbies ever since elementary school so I think it’s an important part of who I am. I also added one of my piano videos that I recorded for a competition back during Covid. I also love music and it’s also something that’s been part of my life since I was five. I just wanted to showcase a wide range of talents and traits that are important to me.What design elements connect the work in your portfolioTo connect the stuff in my portfolio I chose to add visuals throughout my website. For example, the background images throughout the website are also photos that I took. Now to incorporate accessibility principles into my website, I added alt text for images so that everyone can know what’s being shown even if they can’t see the images and visuals. I also made sure that text was clearly readable and buttons and menus were easy to find and understand. So how did peer feedback shape your work? What did you learn by collaborating with your peers?I think that peer feedback helped a lot with making my website more user friendly because it brought to attention some confusing aspects of navigating the website like the menus that I wouldn’t know since I was the one who created the website so I know how all the menus work. I learned through collaboration that peer review is an important aspect of any project. How did you consider specific habits of your practice in your portfolio? This semester we learned many skills important for a writer, which were collecting/curating, engaging, contextualizing, theorizing, and circulating. The project about AI taught me to engage and theorize with information. The portfolio taught me how to collect and curate information. And the entire project taught me how to circulate my works by creating a website. Now how could I use this project in the future?Honestly this website has been around for a while, and I just happened to be working on redoing the website when we started this project in English. Other than the english project I also have a bunch of photos on the website that I’ve taken throughout the years. So my plan is to use what I’ve learned from this project to improve my website and make it a place for me to showcase myself.
